Approaching the time of the year that not only once in a week -- but sometimes two, I have the privilege to capturing and share in the happiest day of someone's life. To not only capture the details that took months to achieve or the check list that is a photographers dream, but to seal in my grip the emotions that each moment of the day reveals. You see what you see, you feel what you feel, and at the end of the day I embarrass a silly fanny pack that will allow two people in love to remember that day for the rest of their lives. It's funny how each wedding I photograph becomes my own "in a heartfelt way“. Not only because I am responsible for making sure I do my job well or follow an itinerary to the T, but that I encapsulate the emotions that two people were feeling at the most sincere moments of the day. I may be the one holding the camera, but God is the one in control of the day so it is my higher power that truly is in charge. A very wise man asked me many folds ago "are you specific Kim when you pray?" and so I am. I ask to be guided throughout the day ahead of me. I can't slow the rain nor can I stop the snow so I embarrass and see the elements of what other may frown at on their wedding day as breath taking and new and try to reassure that all from above holds its own sense of beauty. Sometimes what we picture in our head is only a clip of what can be amazing and that maybe we were meant to step outside of the box and be creative on their wedding day. There is nothing more contrasting than rolling grey clouds nor could there be a more natural texture than a backdrop of falling rain. So I encourage each bride to embrace her day, let go and enjoy.
Warmly,
Kim
Bragging rights...
So.... I just have to brag.... isn't she the most beautiful little angel you've ever seen? Anniston Faith Rolf was born December 17, 2009. I am a very proud mommy to a little girl - as everyone said, there is nothing more fun that accessorizing the little girls. My boys are thrilled that they get to share some of the photography time with a girl. My oldest (three and a half yrs old) keeps asking me, "mommy, why does she have to be like a princess?" Obviously he's picked up on my cues that she is our little princess. It makes me laugh!
So anyways, as we have already headed into the new year the sum of the Agape "household" for January is that Anniston is beautiful, healthy, and actually a great sleeper. Weston II and Ashton are keeping us busy as usual (we're going sledding today... pray I don't break a limb). Weston (the hubby) is going about lots of projects while on his paternity leave. My house is being revamped and I love it! Kim and Karmin are getting ready to leave to shoot a wedding in Mexico! I'm jealous but glad to have little Anniston to snuggle up with and keep me warm too.

Flood of thoughts...

What might I have accomplished if I had thought of a wonderful goal thirty or forty years ago and had worked away at it 'one bulb at a time' all those years? Just think what I could have achieved. To make learning a lesson of celebration instead of a cause for regret is to only ask myself a question. How can I put this to use today? Learning to move forward with my desires one step at a time, often just one baby-step and learning to love the doing part of it all. When I multiply tiny pieces of time with small increments of daily effort I will find I can accomplish magnificent things. I can change the world in my own tiny way. I will never forgive myself if I miss this experience. Before me each and every day lay the most glorious sights. I capture them with my own eyes, still them for the rest of you to see how I see the world, and for others to view the beauty I see in them. With my own unique way I can make something old new, make unconfident feel confident or simply make beautiful what some see as garbage art. As a new year begins I think of the goals I would like to meet now that I have accomplished my most important objective, which was raising my children into adults. I now have what I once only considered dreams to accomplish. It's my thought that God trades us youth for wisdom and if you do it right you will enjoy both for a while. I have learned to not desire so much of the material things I don't have, but to love the gifts that I have. I believe that we all have a passion and a gift that we not only can enjoy about ourselves, but a gift that allows others to feel joy. I believe that my feeling of accomplishment in any form would be to have the joy of seeing that my hard work brought a positive feeling of happiness to someone else.

I just wanted to say a quick Thank You to everyone for being so patient. We are working very hard to beat and make our editing deadlines. It's a time consuming process, but the wait is so worth the art!!
